Volunteer With Us!
Thank you for your interest in volunteering with It's a RUFF Life Rescue. Below, you will find a listing of volunteer positions and their corresponding duties. If you would like to volunteer for any open position, please complete the volunteer application.
Total volunteer hours expected per month: 2-6 hours. for each position listed (exception foster homes as dogs are in your care 24/7)
Trainer/Behaviorist
Periodically we have dogs come into rescue that could use a little "extra work" and socialization.
Groomer
We would love to put your grooming talents to work.
Transporters/Drivers
We need volunteers to pick up and drop off dogs from vet appointments, pick up dog food and supplies.
Follow Up Telephone Support
Our organization sends letters to businesses in hopes of obtaining much needed donations, we desperately need volunteers to follow up on these letters with a phone call. This would be a wonderful way for someone to help us get the best for our adoptable pets. Volunteers do not need to live in the area, but unlimited long distance would be helpful.
Special Events Team It is important for RUFF to host special events and to participate in local dog events such PAWS in the Park. Volunteers on this team will be responsible for orchestrating these functions, as well as planning new events or suggesting participation in events sponsored by other like organizations. They will be expected to pass out information about RUFF, and best of all, show off our dogs. Creates press releases and communications to the community regarding events.
Foster Homes It's a RUFF Life Rescue provides you with everything you need to be a successful foster caregiver. First and foremost, we provide you with our complete support. In most cases, when a dog is taken in to our care, it is first placed in the home of our Director or one of our more experienced foster homes. This gives us a chance to truly evaluate the dog’s behavior and needs before placing it in a foster caregiver’s home. Once we finish our evaluation, we put the call out to open foster homes that a caregiver is needed. We do ask for a commitment of time and patience from our foster homes. Most of our dogs are adopted within a month’s time, but your commitment to your foster dog must be that should it take longer than that, you are willing to care for your foster dog until a home is found. We pay for all pre-approved medical care as the health of our dogs is of the utmost importance to us. We have several vets we work closely with throughout the area and if one is not within a 15 minute drive for you, we will search out and find one that is. We require you to review and meet with the Director to address any concerns or questions you may have before fostering your first dog. We provide you with monthly heartworm and flea preventative. We can also provide a crate, food and bowls if needed. We encourage crate training as it helps with housetraining. We do encourage that you bring your foster dog to adoption events when possible.
