  It's a RUFF Life Rescue

Who We Are

It's a RUFF Life Rescue is an all breed rescue in Northeastern Ohio. We take in dogs from high kill shelters and puppy mills and save them. We also take in dogs whose owners no longer want them or who have been abandoned. We rescue pets from neglect situations. We are a small non-profit group, and work strictly on a volunteer basis.
**We do NOT have a shelter. If you have been approved for adoption an appointment will be made for you to meet the pet you are interested in. Please be on time for your appointment or call the foster home if your late or need to cancel the appointment.
**Yes, we do adopt out of state.
**We do not "ship" or transport any of our puppies or kittens. We will consider on an individual case basis shipping adult pets.
**After meeting you and you have had an opportunity to interact with the pet we reserve the right to deny your pending adoption. Our goal is to place our pets in the best possible home for them and there are times when you may feel this pet is the perfect fit for you, but we don't feel that's the case. Vice versa you are never obligated to adopt a pet you are any less than thrilled with.
** If you have filled out an application and not heard back you are most welcome to email and ask about the status of your application. We often have dozens(or more) applications on a particular pet and don't have time to email or call everyone to tell them if they have not been approved.

Adoption Fees:**A Little about our adoption fees: We have pulling fees from shelters or pay for an animal from puppy mills. We have to put this into the cost for this animal.  Once we get the animal, we have vetting done. Call your nearest vet and ask these questions. How much is it going to cost me to have these services done. Spay/Neuter, all shots up to date, heart worm test, worming. These are just the basic things you are going to do with this animal. You may run across coccidia, or ear infection or a dental to keep the dogs teeth healthy or to get rid of bad teeth. You could encounter other problems also but just get the cost of basic needs. Check on the price of heartworm preventive and flea preventive. Consider then how much we as rescue have into this animal. Also, we have cleaning materials we have to have. This can amount to a lot of our money. Then consider shampoo, spray for matts and perfume, the laundry to clean towels to dry with, etc. When you think of all the expenses we have into an animal, not even including food yet, our prices are not bad at all. We do not even consider all of these expenses when we set our adoption fee. We have standard fees depending on age, and other things. The older the animal is, the less the adoption fee no matter if we have $800 or more into this animal. One we may make a little bit on and it helps to offset the cost of the animal we take a loss on. So please, do your homework before you complain about our adoption fees. Call your vet and get some prices. See if you can do better than this after you have aquired the dog or cat. But be fair about figuring things out! We do not profit on our animals, we barely break even!
